South Africa beat West Indies by three wickets (DLS method) in a thrilling match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Monday.
After the match was affected by rain, the Proteas reached a revised target of 123 runs in 17 overs and cruised home in 16.1 overs for the loss of seven wickets.
Marco Ansansen scored 21 off 14 balls and got through the line. He hit a six in the first over of the last over when his team needed five runs to win.
Tristan Stubbs, who scored 29 of 27 points, and Heinrich Klaasen, who scored 10 of 22, also contributed.
South Africa were 77-3 at one point but the Windies managed to get quick wickets to get back into the game. However, the late strike was not enough to keep the hosts in the contest.
Roston Chase was the star bowler for the home team with figures of 3-12 in four overs.
West Indies were restricted to 135-8 in 20 overs as South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first in the 2024 Super 8 T20 World Cup decider.
However, South Africa 15-2 in two overs when rain interrupted the game, reaching 123 in 17 overs.
South African spinners Aiden Markram, Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj bowled the Windies batsmen for just 79 runs in 12 overs at an economy rate of 6.58 percent, taking five wickets as well.
Shamsi was a bowler with figures of 3-27 in four overs.
Down on 11 and 14, Roston Chase was the top scorer for the Windies with 52 in 42 overs.
