Arkansas: In the American state of Arkansas, the face and eyes of a citizen named James were badly affected by a severe electric shock, after which a complete eye transplant was done for the first time in the world.
In a 21-hour surgery, New York’s Langone Health surgical team transplanted a left eye and a small part of the face from a donor onto Aaron James, a 46-year-old Army veteran who survived a high-voltage accident but died. The face was badly affected.
“I am very grateful to the donor and his family for giving me a second chance at life in a difficult time,” James said in a Langone news release. A part of is with me.
He added, “I hope my story will be a source of encouragement and hope for those facing severe facial and eye injuries.”
