LAHORE, Pakistan — Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik has said that uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz has affected global oil and gas prices, creating challenges for energy supplies and costs.
Addressing a convocation ceremony at a private university in Lahore, the minister said Pakistan had successfully managed the situation over the past six months.
He added that petroleum prices in the country were being determined through a transparent process, while subsidised petrol was being provided to people from low-income groups to help ease the financial burden.
The minister also said that gas supplies from Qatar were continuing without interruption. He expressed confidence that sufficient gas would remain available during December and January as well.
His remarks come amid continued uncertainty in global energy markets, with developments around the Strait of Hormuz remaining a key factor affecting oil and gas prices and supply routes.
