Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has announced his decision to call off his retirement from T20 International cricket.
The veteran pacer expressed his desire to represent his country again in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to be held in West Indies and USA.
Amir on X (formerly Twitter) expressed his unwavering desire to don the green jersey and contribute to Pakistan’s cricketing endeavours. He articulated, “I still dream of playing for Pakistan! Life brings us to points where sometimes we have to rethink our decisions.”
Acknowledging the twists and turns that life often brings, Amir pondered the need to rethink his decisions.
He revealed that constructive discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) played a key role in his decision-making process. “There were some positive discussions between me and the PCB where they respectfully made me feel that I was needed and could still play for Pakistan,” Amir stated.

Amir further emphasized the importance of family support and encouragement from supporters in reaching this momentous decision.
With a burning desire to put his country ahead of personal inclinations, he expressed his readiness to be considered for the upcoming T20 World Cup and reaffirmed his commitment to serve Pakistan on the cricketing stage.
For Amir, the opportunity to represent Pakistan remains the pinnacle of his ambitions. “Putting on the green jersey and serving my country has always been and will always be my greatest ambition,” he affirmed, underscoring his unwavering loyalty to the national cricketing cause.
Amir retired from international cricket on 17 December 2020. “I am taking a break from cricket for now because it is torturing me mentally. I went through a lot of torture between 2010 and 2015 for which I served time,” he stated. .
