Former Interim Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar shed light on the problem of missing persons in Balochistan and stressed that it is not the state’s policy for individuals to disappear. In the interview, he addressed the ongoing propaganda surrounding the missing persons and claimed that the separatists have no real interest in solving the problem.
Kakar expressed concern over the distortion of facts, saying that propaganda at the local and international levels had led to an exaggerated perception of the problem. He highlighted cases where those listed as missing were found to be involved in attacks against security forces, further complicating the issue.
Responding to questions about the involvement of missing persons in militant activities, the former caretaker prime minister stressed the need to distinguish between real cases and those that have been misused for propaganda purposes.

He pointed out that separatists in Balochistan often resort to violence against state forces and use the story of missing persons to promote their agenda. Kakar also pointed to cases where missing persons were found to have been killed in attacks, underscoring the complexity surrounding the issue.
He complained about the lack of real efforts to solve the problem, attributing it to the vested interests of certain groups. When asked about the missing persons who allegedly joined the ranks of the militants, he clarified that the situation was misunderstood. He reiterated that it is not the state’s policy for individuals to disappear, attributing such incidents to separatist attacks on security forces.
