SYDNEY – Former Australian Test cricketer Michael Slater has been remanded in police custody after being arrested on more than a dozen criminal charges.
Slater, 54, was charged in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday.
He faces 19 charges of offenses committed on various dates between December 5, 2023, and April 12, 2024, on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
These charges include stalking or threatening, entering a house with intent at night, common assault, assault causing bodily harm, strangulation or strangulation.
The former cricket and television commentator has been charged with ten counts of breaching bail and breaching a domestic violence order.
Police have confirmed they arrested a 54-year-old Noosa Heads man at a Sunshine Coast address on Friday after several days of domestic violence.
Slater was remanded in custody pending a court appearance on Tuesday.
Making his debut on the 1993 Ashes tour, Slater played 74 Tests for Australia and scored 5,312 runs at an average of 42.83 with 14 centuries. He also played 42 ODIs.
Slater retired from cricket in 2004 to pursue a successful television commentary career.
