Sky Turns Deep Red in India as Stormy Weather Sparks Online Buzz

Videos of the Unusual Sight Go Viral as Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Affect Parts of Chhattisgarh

CHHATTISGARH, India: Residents in parts of India were left astonished after the sky turned an unusual deep red colour during severe weather conditions, with videos of the phenomenon rapidly spreading across social media.

The striking scene was reported over Kirandul, in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, where the sky reportedly changed from its usual blue and grey shades to a dark red hue.

According to Indian media reports cited by 24 News HD, the unusual sight occurred amid persistent rainfall and strong winds associated with a storm system. Videos shared online show the sky above the area appearing dramatically red, attracting widespread attention.

Although the phenomenon has been linked to atmospheric changes caused by the stormy weather, the precise scientific explanation for the sky’s colour change has not yet been established, the report said.

Authorities had announced school closures on October 29 in view of the deteriorating weather and strong winds. The India Meteorological Department also forecast further rainfall in several parts of Chhattisgarh and issued precautionary advisories.

The report further stated that the storm system moved inland after making landfall along the coast of Andhra Pradesh. Sustained wind speeds were reported at 125–135 kilometres per hour, with gusts reaching up to 150 kilometres per hour.

The unusual red sky has captured public attention, while residents have been urged to follow official weather advisories and take precautions during severe conditions.
