Six security personnel were injured in a terrorist attack on a checkpoint in Townsend Sheriff’s Wednesday morning.
According to police officials, terrorists attacked Hazrat Umar Farooq, known as Jhangi Checkpoint, located in Wahowa area of Dera Ghazi Khan, adjacent to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The attack left six officers injured, one of whom was said to be in critical condition, officials said.
After the attack, law enforcement agencies rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. They then launched a search operation to nab the culprits. The injured personnel were immediately transported to THQ Township Sheriff’s Hospital for treatment.
The doctor who treated the injured confirmed the condition of the picture showing the severity of the attack.
Condemning the attack, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered the best possible treatment for the injured personnel. He also praised the police for their strong fight against terrorists and said that the nation is determined to eradicate terrorism.
Meanwhile, in another incident, miscreants shot at Machni Gate police station in Peshawar. After the police responded, the attackers managed to evade capture and fled the scene as confirmed by Warsak SP Jawad Ishak.
A number of police contingents reached the spot and started searching for the assailants.
