KARACHI: Karachi Kings captain Shan Masood on Tuesday expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance in the ongoing HBL PSL 9.
During the press conference after the thrilling match against Peshawar Zalmi, Masood said that Karachi Kings played good cricket throughout the tournament.
“I am happy with the performance of Karachi Kings this season. We lost two close games that we could have won if we avoided the little mistakes. But that’s part of the game,” said the left-handed batsman.
“Our team was hit by an unfortunate situation when 13 of our players fell ill in the middle of the tournament. It disrupted our plans as we had to make changes to our combination.
“In the meantime, we also had to rely on other results, but they were not in our favor.”
Talking about his own performance, Shan Masood expressed disappointment with his batting performance.
“I admit that I could not perform at my best this season. I have performed in the previous seasons of HBL PSL and wanted to repeat it this season but unfortunately it did not happen,” he noted.
Karachi Kings lost their last group game against Peshawar Zalmi by a narrow margin of two runs after a thrilling final.
“The wicket was tricky and we made some small mistakes while Peshawar Zalmi played well which led to their win,” said the Karachi Kings captain.
Shan Masood also praised young spinner Arafat Minhas for his impressive performance against Peshawar Zalmi. Arafat claimed one wicket for 11 runs in his four overs.
“Arafat [Minhas] performed brilliantly and took full advantage of the conditions. This year he joined the squad along with 6 other players who had never played in the HBL PSL before.
“We have given opportunities to the youngsters according to the situation and made sure they get the right guidance from the senior players.”
