Pakistan’s star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi recently visited Old Trafford, the historic home of Manchester United.
The fast bowler, who is currently enjoying a break in the UK after a busy cricket season, has been warmly received by the football club during his time in Manchester.
Afridi’s visit to Old Trafford, initially thought to be an occasional stopover, turned out to be a major event as he was invited to launch Manchester United’s new kit.
This marked a milestone as Afridi became the first Muslim, Asian and Pakistani athlete to officially unveil the football club’s new kit.
During the visit, Shaheen Afridi was presented with a personalized Manchester United shirt bearing his name and the iconic number 10, a number previously worn by legends such as David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney.
The club’s gesture underscored the esteem in which Afridi is held not only in the cricketing world but also in international sports.
A Manchester United source revealed: “Shaheen Shah Afridi was invited by Old Trafford to launch the official kit to celebrate his sporting achievements and to inspire more young people to get involved in sport. This collaboration is particularly meaningful and we look forward to further partnerships with Shaheen in the future.
