At the World Government Summit 2024 in Dubai, Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan revealed that Danny Boyle had approached him for the lead role in Slumdog Millionaire.
Despite his close relationship with Boyle, Khan turned down the offer while hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati, according to India Today. Explaining his decision at the event, the actor commented: “Yeah, Slumdog was there when he mentioned it now. And I spend a lot of time with Mr. Boyle. he is very nice But I did Kaun Banega Crorepati on TV, successfully at that time. And in the story that was being told, I just felt that the guy who was hosting was very evil, the story that was being told.”
He further added, “As a host (in the film), I cheated and was dishonest. So I just found out that it’s very strange that I’m a host (on KBC) and I’m cheating in a movie. So I explained to Mr. Boyle that I wouldn’t like to do that, please, and that they were much better actors than I was. And I think Mr. Anil Kapoor did that and he was fantastic as a host.”

Commenting on the prospect of Hollywood ventures, Khan admitted that he was involved in discussions but clarified that he had not received any solid offers. “I said it honestly, but no one believes it. So I’ll be very, very honest with you. No one has ever offered me a job. Crossing the fabric. I might have had conversations with people I know, a lot of beautiful people from the West, from the English film industry, from the American film industry. But no one offered me a good job,” he claimed.
He was then asked if he would like to play James Bond. The star said: “I really wanted to but I think I’m too small. But I’m brown enough to play a Bond villain.” From Pierce Brosnan to Daniel Craig, many actors have played the fictional spy in the Bond series over the years.
