ISLAMABAD: Two members of the upper house of parliament on Monday moved a separate motion for redress for violation of their privileges due to misconduct of public officials.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Senator Dost Muhammad Khan presented the first privilege motion stating the treatment of his party workers and himself during a meeting of party workers held at local ground in Tank area of South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Senator Dost Muhammad Khan condemned the act of Tank and Upper South Waziristan Police. He stated in the motion that the district police officer ordered him (the senator) to attend the office but the police officer was not present there. While the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) kept the senator waiting in cold weather outside his office for hours. The senator said he got bronchitis as a result of a bad cold and fell ill. The senator also contacted the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police, the Regional Police Officer (RPO) and the DPO, but they did not attend the call.

(Senator) called on the President of the Senate to refer the matter to the Privileges Committee of the Upper House. IG KP, RPO Dera Ismail Khan, DPO of Tank and Upper Waziristan and DSP Tank should be summoned to hold them accountable in this matter.
Senate President Sadiq Sanjrani referred the matter to the Privileges Committee.
In the second motion, Senator Syed Waqar Mehdi of Parliament of Pakistan People’s Party (PPPP) raised his privilege motion against a senior member of the Sindh Board of Revenue who refused to answer him after repeated calls and gave a humiliating response to his request in a public matter. interest relating to Sindh’s sepoy Anti-infiltration Force.
In his privilege motion, the senator said that Sindh Board member Zahid Ali Abbasi refused to contact him (the senator) and rejected his repeated calls.
While reading his motion aloud, he said: “This attitude of the incumbent was quite humiliating and a violation of the privileges, not of the undersigned, but of this upper house.”
He asked the Speaker to take up the motion and refer it to the Privileges Committee, which the Senate President referred to the appropriate forum.
