Security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Kalat district, killing eight suspected militants during an exchange of fire, according to the military’s media wing.
Security forces conduct operation in Kalat
In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations said the operation was launched following reports of the presence of militants in the area. The statement identified the group as Fitna al Hindustan and described it as operating as an Indian proxy.
During the operation, security forces engaged the location where the suspects were believed to be hiding. An exchange of fire followed, resulting in the deaths of eight militants, ISPR said.
Weapons and explosives recovered
ISPR said weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the site. According to the statement, the militants were allegedly involved in multiple attacks and militant activities in the surrounding area.
No casualties among security personnel were reported in the statement.
Forces continue sanitisation operations
The military said follow-up search and clearance operations are underway in the area to identify and eliminate any remaining militant presence.
ISPR added that security forces, along with law enforcement agencies, will continue counterterrorism operations aimed at addressing what it described as foreign-backed militancy in the country.
