Islamabad: The Social Cooperation Initiative (SCI) and the Zakat Foundation of America (ZFA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation on humanitarian assistance and community development initiatives in Pakistan.
The MoU, signed on January 30, 2026, establishes a framework for joint efforts aimed at supporting vulnerable communities, particularly women, children and marginalised groups. The partnership will focus on improving access to essential services and promoting sustainable, community-based development programmes.

Under the agreement, both organisations will collaborate on projects related to social welfare, poverty alleviation and long-term community empowerment, while emphasising transparency, accountability and effective programme delivery.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Sajjad Hussain Malik, Chief Executive Officer of SCI, said the partnership would enhance the organisation’s ability to expand its reach and implement impactful initiatives in health, education and social development.
Fazal Ur Rehman, Country Director of ZFA, said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening humanitarian responses and supporting communities in need. He added that pooling resources and expertise would help improve the scale and effectiveness of ongoing interventions.
Officials from both organisations said the agreement marks the beginning of a long-term strategic relationship aimed at addressing humanitarian and social challenges across Pakistan through coordinated and people-centred approaches.
