Sargodha Wildlife Operation Rescues More Than 4,000 Sparrows from Illegal Trapping

SARGODHA: The Wildlife Department has rescued more than 4,000 sparrows during an operation against illegal trapping and trade in the Sargodha region.

According to wildlife officials, the suspects were using nets in different areas to capture sparrows and later sell them in various cities. A large number of birds were recovered during the operation, while officials also traced a group allegedly involved in the illegal trapping and trade of the birds.

The Wildlife Department said the rescued sparrows would be released into the wild after completion of the necessary legal and procedural requirements.

Officials said legal action would be taken against those involved in the illegal capture, sale and trade of the birds.

The department has also decided to intensify operations against illegal hunting, trapping and wildlife trade to protect wild bird populations and biodiversity.

The action highlights the importance of stronger enforcement against illegal wildlife trade, which can threaten local bird populations and disturb natural ecosystems.
