Rajasthan Royals Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara has said that Sanju Samson has been confirmed as India’s preferred wicketkeeper in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Sangakkara pointed to Samson’s impressive performance and showed that he is suitable for the role. Along with Rishabh Pant, who showed his courage after a tough time after a car accident, Samson’s 46-ball 86 showed his courage despite the defeat against Delhi Capitals.
With 471 runs and five half-centuries in 11 matches, Samson’s form has been consistent throughout the season.
Despite the ongoing spat between Pant and Samson, Sangakkara emphasized the will of the selectors and said that Samson has shown an interesting case.
Sangakkara’s comments highlighted the importance of the coaching staff’s assessment and expressed hope for Samson’s future at the World Cup. Sangakkara also praised Samson’s leadership qualities while noting his team’s impressive performance in league matches.
Sangakkara points to Samson’s renewed focus on rest and recovery, a change in mindset that has addressed the previous problem of concentration. As Samson prepares for the World Cup squad for the first time, Sangakkara praises his commitment to the team and his ability to excel when he is alive and focused.
