Film producer, journalist, and TV host Reham Khan has clarified her previous advice to actress Hania Aamir about not getting married.
In a podcast some time ago, Reham Khan had suggested Hania Aamir to focus on her career and wait before marrying.
Reham Khan faced criticism for her advice, with some pointing out that she herself had been married three times but was advising Hania Aamir against marriage.
In light of the criticism, Reham Khan recently clarified her statement, saying that she never told Hania Aamir to never marry but instead advised her to wait for now.
Speaking on the FHM podcast, Reham Khan explained that she faced criticism for advising Hania Aamir about marriage, with people pointing out her own marital history. She said that the advice she gave to Hania was the same advice she would give to other young women and men, including her own daughters: to focus on their careers first and delay marriage.
Reham Khan mentioned that typically, when girls reach 30 years old, they start feeling a physical need for marriage, while also facing pressure from their families and relatives about it. She explained that people believe that after marriage, a woman will be independent, have her own home, and a husband, but that’s not true—women are not automatically independent after marriage. This is something everyone needs to understand.
She further emphasized that the goal of marriage should not just be to get married, but rather to enter into the institution when a woman finds someone who matches her personality and mindset.
Reham Khan clarified that she also gives this same advice to her daughters—that they should focus on their careers first and marry later.
She made it clear that she never told Hania Aamir to never marry but rather suggested that she focus on her career for now and delay marriage.
