Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI) and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ICCI) have reiterated their firm commitment for joint efforts to solve the problems of the business community of the twin cities. The creation of a joint working team and the organization of joint events to support industrial and commercial activities for the benefit of the region were reiterated. It was agreed that the two chambers would meet twice a month to deal with business-related issues.
This was stated by RCCI President Saqib Rafiq during a meeting with ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtavari during a delegation visit to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). The delegation also included Senior Vice President Muhammad Hamza Sarosh, Vice President Faisal Shahzad and Executive Committee Member Ikram Ur Rehman. ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtavari, ICCI Past President Zafar Bakhtawari, Khalid Chaudhry, Sheikh Jamshed, Islamabad Women’s Chamber Past President Mrs. Naima Ansari among others were present on the occasion.
During the meeting, the problems of the business sector of partner cities, industrial zones, exhibition grounds, alternative dispute resolution, issues related to FBR, RDA, CDA, close contact with district administration and government officials and business sector were discussed. A joint effort to provide maximum facilities was discussed.
Rawalpindi Chamber President Saqib Rafiq said that a Business Facilitation Center (BFC) like Rawalpindi should be established in Islamabad to promote business and industrial activities. The emergence of exhibition centers and industrial zones is inevitable, both cities are expanding, to support small and medium-sized enterprises and reduce traffic pressure from the city, it is necessary to establish industrial and economic zones around the ring road. He suggested that trade and business activities would have to be encouraged along the lines of a Central Business District (CBD).
Long-term and planned for a period of three to five years, the policies needed for sustainable growth and completion of projects. According to him, many disputes are connected with the demarcation of the borders of the twin cities and also with a number of problems, whether it is the construction of a road, the laying of a water supply or gas pipeline, matters concerning the police or other facilities.
Islamabad Chamber President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari assured that the problems of the business community of the twin cities will be solved together.
