ISLAMABAD: With the deadline for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s intra-party election nomination papers, attention turns to the four contenders vying for the party’s top leadership position.
Advocate Gohar Ali Khan is among the candidates who have thrown their hat into the ring for the post of PTI chairman. He has been joined by Sindh’s Ashraf Qureshi, Balochistan’s Muhammad Aslam and KP’s Naveed Anjum, all in a bid to secure the party’s helm.
A fifteen-member jury, headed by Omar Ayub, also submitted nomination papers for the post of general secretary.
In Punjab, Yasmin Rashid, Muhammad Khan Madni and Asad Hanif are vying for the presidency, while Haleem Adil, Khawand Bakhsh and Ghulam Muhammad are vying for the same slot in Sindh.
Meanwhile, six candidates, including Dr. Munir Baloch, is contesting for the Balochistan presidency. Balochistan candidates include Jafar Agha, Aminullah Jogezai, Dawood Shah, Abdul Sadiq and Babar Marghzani. Under the chairmanship of KP, a panel headed by Ali Amin Gandapur submitted its nomination papers.
PTI’s internal party elections are expected to be held nationwide on March 3 as per the announced schedule.
