Former Indian spinner R Ashwin has said that the IPL has grown so huge that cricket itself is taking a backseat at times.
He said that sometimes it is difficult for players to juggle training and filming commercials.
“As a youngster coming into the IPL, I was just trying to learn from the big stars, I wasn’t thinking about what the IPL would be like in 10 years. I can say I’ve been in the IPL for so many seasons. The IPL is huge,” he said on the Club Prairie podcast Fire.

“Sometimes I wonder if the IPL is even cricket because the sport goes behind the scenes (during the IPL). It’s so huge. We end up practicing doing commercials and filming! That’s where the IPL has come to,” said Ashwin, who is an important member of the Rajasthan Royals team.
