Quetta records coldest night of current winter season

QUETTA: The capital city of Balochistan experienced the coldest night of the ongoing winter season and saw the temperature drop to -5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.

Water in pipes and roads began to freeze as a cold breeze blew across Quetta. Most areas of Balochistan province were under the grip of cold wave.

Meanwhile, skies are now clear in Quetta and adjoining areas after heavy rains.

The weather on Saturday remained rainy with thunderstorms and heavy snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, North Punjab and Balochistan.

Similarly, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan have braced themselves for heavy rains and snow.

Authorities advised citizens to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel and monitor weather updates from reliable sources.

Emergency services are on high alert, ready to respond to any emergency arising from adverse weather conditions.
