LAHORE: As part of proactive measures to address the anticipated smog season, the Director of the Environment Monitoring Centre (EMC) recently visited the Air Quality Monitoring Station (AQMS) in Raja Jang, District Kasur, to review its operational readiness and monitoring capabilities.
During the visit, the Director inspected the functioning of various high-precision air quality analysers and evaluated the overall performance of the monitoring system to ensure accurate and uninterrupted data collection.
The technical staff was directed to maintain continuous, round-the-clock operations and ensure that all monitoring equipment remains functional in accordance with prescribed technical standards.
Officials stressed that accurate and timely air quality data is essential for effective environmental management, identifying pollution trends and enabling authorities to take timely measures ahead of and during the smog season.
The monitoring station forms part of efforts to strengthen Punjab’s air quality surveillance network and improve the availability of reliable environmental data for decision-making.
The authorities reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening pre-smog preparedness, ensuring transparent air quality monitoring and taking proactive measures to protect public health and improve air quality across the province.
