LAHORE: A District Vigilance Committee meeting was held under the chairpersonship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Sarah Amjad to review the effective implementation of zigzag technology at brick kilns, improvement of schools managed by the Literacy Department and promotion of plantation.
Representatives of the Labour Department, Environment Department, Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI), Literacy Department, District Public Prosecutor and other relevant departments attended the meeting.
The participants discussed measures to provide effective training to brick-kiln owners on zigzag technology and encourage the transition of kilns to the modern production system.
The meeting also reviewed ways to improve the quality of brick-kiln schools and provide necessary facilities for teachers and students.
The committee further stressed the need for organised plantation activities at brick kilns to increase greenery and support a cleaner environment around these industrial sites.
Sarah Amjad directed the relevant departments to ensure effective implementation of the agreed measures through better coordination and regular follow-up.
Zigzag kiln technology, along with stronger environmental monitoring and plantation, can contribute to efforts to reduce air pollution from brick-kiln operations while supporting healthier surroundings for workers and nearby communities.
