Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled plans to distribute 50,000 solar systems across the province as part of a comprehensive solar home solution initiative.
The announcement came during a review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, where the Energy Minister gave an insight into the implementation of the programme.
Solar systems are set up to be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including advanced solar panels, inverters, batteries and other essential components. With an initial allocation of Rs 12.6 billion for the first phase, the program aims to increase energy efficiency and sustainability across Punjab.
During the meeting, she emphasized the need for immediate action in installing one kilowatt solar systems and called for the adoption of the latest solar technology.
In addition, she welcomed Chairman Wang Yaodong of China State Construction Engineering Corporation and highlighted the potential of cooperation between China and Pakistan.
Nawaz hailed China’s One Window Operation System as a global model for investment promotion and expressed interest in exploring opportunities for private sector involvement in the IT sector. She also warmly invited China to cooperate in agriculture and anti-smog efforts.
In addition, Chief Minister Nawaz emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties between Pakistan and China, noting that CPEC projects have significant potential for creating employment opportunities and promoting economic growth in both countries.
