Punjab opens applications for climate leadership internship with Rs60,000 monthly stipend

LAHORE — The Punjab government has introduced the Chief Minister Punjab Climate Leadership Development Internship Program, offering young graduates an opportunity to gain practical experience in environmental policy and climate-related projects.

Under the initiative, selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs60,000 during the three-month program. Officials said the internship aims to involve youth in sustainability initiatives while building their understanding of climate governance and environmental protection efforts in the province.

The program will be conducted with the support of the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department (EPCCD) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Interns will take part in structured learning through a digital Learning Management System along with field-based activities designed to provide hands-on exposure.

Participants will also work on capstone projects related to climate action and environmental challenges while receiving mentorship from professionals in the field. Officials say the initiative is intended to help graduates develop practical skills and understanding of policy implementation in environmental sectors.

Authorities said the selection process will be merit-based and organized on a district-wise basis to ensure representation from different areas of Punjab. Fifty percent of the internship seats have been reserved for female candidates.

Applications for the program are currently open through the official portals epd.punjab.gov.pk/climate internship and climateinternship.pk. The deadline to apply for the first batch is March 29, 2026.
