LAHORE: Newly elected members of the Punjab Assembly, including Punjab Chief Minister nominee Maryam Nawaz, were sworn in on Friday.
Speaker Sibtain Khan administered the oath to the newly elected members of the Punjab Assembly, including 201 members of the PML-N.
Chaired by Speaker Sibtain, the PA session began after a delay of more than two hours on Friday.
When Maryam Nawaz first entered the house, a roar of slogans rang through the House. As Maryam Nawaz entered the house, PML-N MPAs carrying photographs of Nawaz Sharif raised continuous slogans.
PML-N leader Marriyum Aurangzeb was also sworn in for the first time as a member of the Punjab Assembly.
This is the first meeting of the provincial assembly after the February 8 general election where the newly elected members were sworn in.
At the start of the delayed session, members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) candidates chanted slogans against each other and exchanged heated words.
