The Punjab Cabinet has approved a series of allowances for the families of soldiers and officers who have died in the line of duty, a major step to promote the welfare of the bereaved families.
The Punjab Finance Department has issued a formal notification detailing the allowances to be given to the families of the deceased employees after Cabinet approval.
Approved allowances include House Rent Allowance, 20% Special Allowance, Health Care Allowance, Utilities Allowance and Ad Hoc Assistance Allowance. These measures are intended to offer financial relief and stability to families affected by the loss of loved ones during service.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar, who instructed Finance Minister Mujahid Sherdil to prepare the necessary proposals for these posts. The move follows a precedent set by the establishment department in February 2015, which approved various grants for officers who died on duty.
The new allowances approved by the Punjab Cabinet represent a continuation of these efforts and further extend support to the families of the province’s civil servants.
