FAISALABAD: In view of the potential flood situation during the ongoing monsoon season, the Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department has activated flood relief camps across vulnerable areas of Faisalabad Division to provide timely veterinary services and safeguard livestock.
The initiative has been launched under the directions of the Punjab government. According to Director Livestock Dr Haider Ali Khan, veterinary teams have been deployed at the flood relief camps in three shifts to ensure round-the-clock availability of essential animal healthcare services.
The camps are equipped to provide emergency treatment, first aid, preventive vaccination, disease surveillance, essential medicines, technical guidance and other veterinary services to protect livestock from disease outbreaks during flooding and help secure the livelihoods of livestock farmers.
The department has also mobilised its mobile veterinary dispensaries in flood-prone areas to provide immediate treatment, vaccination and emergency veterinary assistance wherever required.
To strengthen emergency preparedness, Flood Emergency Cells have been established at all tehsil, district and divisional offices of the Livestock and Dairy Development Department. These centres will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to monitor the evolving flood situation and coordinate rapid response efforts.
The department reaffirmed its commitment to providing uninterrupted, timely and quality veterinary services during any flood emergency. Livestock owners have been advised to contact the nearest flood relief camp or Flood Emergency Cell for assistance related to animal health, treatment or technical guidance.
