PTI Senator Shibli Faraz said on Monday that the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police surrounded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretariat in Islamabad and arrested PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and party spokesperson Rauf Hasan.
A large contingent of police reached the PTI secretariat along with police women.
Shibli Faraz claimed that PTI chairman and Rauf Hasan were arrested by ICT police.
Speaking to Private TV channel, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar clarified that he was not arrested by the ICT police and that only Raoof Hasan was arrested.
Barrister Gohar arrived at Parliament after the ICT police encounter.
Gohar said the police informed him that he was not wanted in any FIR.
The PTI chairman said he was not investigated in any matter.
Law enforcement officers in action
Law enforcement agencies took action and arrested people involved in the propaganda, including PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan.
Sources claimed that PTI’s digital media hub is functioning as an epicenter of disinformation. Sources further claimed that they conducted the raid on the advice of PTI’s international social media activists.
On May 24, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) sealed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Secretariat. The operation, conducted in collaboration with the district administration, involved opposing teams equipped with heavy equipment deployed at the site located in Sector G-84.
According to the CDA spokesperson, the land in question was allotted to a person named Sartaj Ali. However, violations of building regulations were noted, including the construction of an additional floor. The political party is also said to have encroached on the adjacent land.
On June 4, the Islamabad High Court ordered the authorities to immediately unseal Tehreek-e-Insaafu’s central office in the federal capital, Islamabad.
Islamabad High Court Judge Thaman Rifat Imtiaz issued a reserved verdict. The court accepted PTI’s plea against Capital Development Authority CDA.
