Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) advises customers to be careful while buying mobile phones in the market.
The PTA, in a statement circulated on social media, advised the public to be cautious when handling cloned or duplicate mobile devices.
Authorities stressed that customers should always buy phones from reputable sellers and ensure that the gadgets are covered by an active warranty.
In addition, the PTA advised consumers to select the phones in the box to ensure that the phone’s IMEI number matches the number on the box and to confirm the PTA stamp on the box.
Customers are advised to use the DVS app, SMS their IMEI number to 8484 or visit https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk to verify their devices.
Customers have been urged to ensure they purchase mobile devices that are packaged, to contact the seller and report any issues to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) if they become the target of fraud.
