The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has claimed to make the registration of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) more accessible.
PTA has issued a notification regarding the registration of VPNs for institutions, call centers, banks, embassies, and freelancers.
In its announcement, PTA stated that software houses, embassies, and freelancers can now register their VPNs on the PTA website at www.pta.gov.pk.
The notification mentioned that to complete the registration, applicants must fill out an online form and provide basic details. Freelancers will also need to provide a letter-based proof of affiliation with a project. Applicants must also provide the IP address for VPN connectivity.
In the case of a fixed IP address, it can be obtained from the Internet Service Provider. The VPN registration process is free, and the approval process will be completed within 8 to 10 hours after submitting the application. Over 20,000 companies and freelancers have already registered their VPNs.
It is important to note that Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are widely used by internet users around the world to access content that is blocked or restricted in their respective countries.
