Various proposals in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget to increase the salaries of government employees. The first proposal calls for a 10-15 percent increase in salaries and pensions, while the second proposal aims for 15-20 percent relief for low-level workers.
According to sources in the finance ministry, there is a proposal to increase the salary of civil servants from grade one to sixteen by 20 percent. A 15 percent increase is proposed for workers in grades 17 to 22, while retired government employees in grades 1 to 16 are offered a 20 percent increase in their pensions.
A 20 percent increase in the pension of retired employees between the ages of 17 and 22 is also considered. The final approval of salary and pension hike will come from the federal cabinet.
The proposal to raise the retirement age of civil servants to 62 years is also being studied. The implementation of this proposal will be discussed with the provincial authorities.
After approval by the federal minister, the matter will be referred to the Public Interest Council for discussion. If approved by the provincial authorities, it will be implemented from the next financial year.
