In Iraq, a university professor shot and killed his female colleague following a minor argument.
According to Arab media, the woman who was killed by the professor’s gunfire has been identified as Dr. Sarah Al-Aboudi, who worked at the College of Education at Basra University.
Footage from the university’s CCTV cameras shows Professor Zurgam Al-Tamimi firing shots after a heated exchange with Sarah Al-Aboudi.
The professor and the woman had an intense argument before the shooting. Professor Zurgam is also a close relative of Basra’s governor, Asaad Al-Eidani.
The governor of Basra stated that the children’s uncle committed this crime, but no one is above the law, and nothing will stand in the way of justice.
The horrific video of the murder went viral on Iraqi social media, with users condemning the killing and calling for the harshest punishment for the professor.
It is noteworthy that Iraq ranks 80th out of 148 countries in this year’s Crime Index and 8th in the Arab world.
