BUNER: The Youth and Volunteers (Y&V) Department of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa organised a three-day Y-Adapt training for volunteers in District Buner under an Emergency Appeal supported by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
A total of 22 volunteers participated in the training, which included interactive sessions and practical activities focused on climate change, disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation.
The training aimed to strengthen volunteers’ knowledge and practical skills to identify climate-related risks and support adaptation and resilience efforts in their communities.
Participants explored ways to better understand local climate risks and promote preparedness and practical adaptation measures at the community level.
Community-based training can play an important role in strengthening resilience, particularly in areas vulnerable to climate-related hazards. By equipping local volunteers with relevant knowledge and skills, communities can improve their capacity to identify risks and respond to changing environmental conditions.
The initiative highlights the importance of youth and volunteer engagement in building climate-resilient communities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
