The director of the Pakistan Meteorological Department said this year’s rainfall is likely to be 35% above normal, and there are concerns about urban flooding. According to Irfan Ali Katya, preparations by PMD have been completed with continuous cleaning of rivers and drains before the monsoon season.
On the other hand, urban flooding has been warned in Faisalabad with the arrival of monsoon season. The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) in Faisalabad has started cleaning storm drains.
The Meteorological Department has predicted that normal monsoon rains will begin from July 3.
