In the past few years, KP has again seen an alarming rise in terrorist attacks with several major attacks leaving the province riddled with terrorism and violence, especially after the Taliban-led administration took over Afghanistan in 2021.
In some parts of KP, especially in the southern districts, the law and order situation worsened with an increase in attacks on police, security forces and civilians.
In the past few months, some political figures and gatherings have also been targeted by terrorists in certain parts of the province, while security personnel, including the military and police, have also been attacked.
Senior police officials said the situation in other parts of the province had improved while efforts were being made to improve law and order in the southern districts of KP.
As the country approaches the crucial general elections scheduled to be held on February 8, the army has been busy conducting operations against terrorist organizations and terrorists, especially in KP.

Meanwhile, security forces conducted 197 operations against outlaws, killing 537–545 of them.
