PNS Khaibar joins Turkish Navy in bilateral maritime exercise

ISLAMABAD (Feb 13, 2026): The PNS Khaibar took part in Exercise Turgutreis-XIII with the Turkish Naval Forces during its maiden voyage from Türkiye to Pakistan, the Pakistan Navy said on Thursday.

The ship visited Aksaz Naval Base, where its Commanding Officer met Vice Admiral Rafet Oktar, Southern Sea Area Commander of the Turkish Navy. Discussions focused on strengthening naval collaboration and enhancing maritime security cooperation.

Senior Turkish naval officials, including Rear Admiral Hamdi Abanoz, Commander Aksaz Naval Base, later visited PNS Khaibar.

Following the port call, the vessel participated in bilateral drills alongside TCG Heybeliada and a Turkish Naval Forces SH-70 helicopter. The exercise included coordinated sea maneuvers designed to improve interoperability and operational coordination.

After completing the exercise, both ships conducted a Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. Officials described the engagement as a reflection of strong defense ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.
