Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have started consultations on the potential ban of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Article 6 action against Imran Khan, Arif Alvi and Qasim Suri.
Sources revealed that the PPP delegation urged the government to carefully consider the future implications of such decisions. During the session, the Attorney General provided detailed information about the case and specific decisions about the seat.
The PML-N legal team has been trying to build trust with the PPP over their decisions related to the PTI. The Law Minister and the Attorney General highlighted the legal aspects of the PTI ban.
However, PPP’s legal team expressed reservations about the possible future impact of these decisions. They emphasized the need for thorough consultation and consensus before any public announcement.
The PPP delegation insisted that the PML-N must take the PPP into confidence before taking any major decisions. They emphasized the importance of party consultation and consensus and warned against unilateral decisions by the government.
Both sides have expressed mutual concern over PTI’s recent behavior. The meeting, which lasted for about an hour and a half, was attended by key government and party figures including Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, Minister of Law Azam Nazir Tarar, NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Ahad Cheema, Irfan Qadir, Minister of Information Ataullah Tarar, Farooq H. Naik, Senator Sherry Rehman and Attorney General Mansoor Awan.
Discussions continue and both main parties are trying to navigate the legal and political complexity of the situation while maintaining unity between the coalition partners.
