Rawalpindi: The three-day Interfaculty Boys Football Championship 2025–26 at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) concluded with UIMS securing the title after defeating UIIT 4–2 on penalty kicks. The final match was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, while the opening ceremony earlier in the week was inaugurated by Director Sports Rana Zahid Qamar.
UIMS wins final after goalless draw
Ten teams from various faculties and institutes participated in the Interfaculty Boys Football Championship. The final between the University Institute of Management Sciences (UIMS) and the University Institute of Information Technology (UIIT) ended 0–0 in regular time. UIMS won the championship after prevailing 4–2 in the penalty shootout.
University leadership underscores role of sports
During the closing ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman addressed the participating teams and noted that sports activities contribute to a balanced academic environment. He said that physical fitness and co-curricular engagement complement academic learning. The Vice Chancellor also encouraged students to take part in competitive and recreational sports offered on campus.
Trophies and certificates distributed at closing ceremony
Following the final, trophies, medals, and certificates were awarded to the winning and runner-up teams. University officials acknowledged the Directorate of Sports for organizing the Interfaculty Boys Football Championship and facilitating student participation across departments.
