ISLAMABAD: The caretaker government has announced an increase in petrol prices for the next two weeks, which means an increase of Rs 4.13 per litre. In contrast, diesel rate remains unchanged at Rs 287.33 per litre.

Earlier indicators indicated the possibility of a sharp increase in gasoline prices. Early reports last week suggested a potential hike of up to Rs 4 per litre, but recent reports this week suggested a hike of Rs 3.5 per litre.

Earlier, petrol was available in Pakistan at Rs 275.62 per liter while diesel was at Rs 287.33 per litre.
Unfortunately, this decision to increase the price of petrol is expected to affect the already strained finances of Pakistanis struggling with inflation and high prices of electricity, gas and food.
Notably, this price adjustment could potentially be the last from the caretaker government.
