Guinness World Records named Pepper X as the fastest pepper in the world. The honor was previously held by a rapper named Carolina Reaper.
A team of researchers from Winthrop University in South Carolina explained the speed of PaperX. According to the team, Paper X has an average acceleration of 2.693 thousand scoval heat units, while the average acceleration of the Carolina Reaper is 1.64 million scoval heat units.
While jalapeno peppers have a hotness of 3000 to 8000 scoval heat units.
Ed Currie, founder of Picker Butt Paper Company and grower of Carolina Reaper peppers, debuted Paper X on his YouTube channel ‘First We Feast’.
He said that it took him about 10 years to breed this fastest pepper.
Ed Curie currently owns the rights to Paper X, meaning his plants and seeds will not be available for sale.
