PCF Balochistan Students Visit PDMA to Learn About Disaster Preparedness

QUETTA: The Balochistan Chapter of the Progressive Climate Foundation (PCF) organised an educational visit to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan for student volunteers from BUITEMS University, providing them with practical insight into disaster preparedness and emergency response.

The visit was conducted under the supervision of BUITEMS Campus Ambassador Zainab and PCF District Coordinator Quetta Raheel Tariq. Students learned about the role of PDMA and the systems used to coordinate responses during emergencies and disasters.

Students Learn About Emergency Response

During the session, PDMA Deputy Director Rescue Asghar Jamali briefed the students about the authority’s responsibilities, working procedures and emergency response operations.

The students also visited the Provincial Emergency Response Center, where they were introduced to emergency coordination mechanisms and disaster response procedures.

They were also shown rescue and emergency response machinery and equipment available with PDMA, giving them an opportunity to gain practical knowledge of how response operations are organised during emergencies.

Focus on Youth and Disaster Preparedness

The educational visit provided the students with a better understanding of disaster risk management and the importance of preparedness, coordination and timely emergency response.

Youth-focused learning initiatives can help strengthen awareness of disaster risks and encourage students to contribute to community preparedness for climate-related and other emergencies.
