QUETTA: The Balochistan Chapter of the Progressive Climate Foundation (PCF) organised an educational visit to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan for student volunteers from BUITEMS University.
The visit was conducted under the supervision of BUITEMS Campus Ambassador Zainab and PCF District Coordinator Quetta Raheel Tariq.
During the session, PDMA Deputy Director Rescue Asghar Jamali briefed the students about the authority’s role, responsibilities, working procedures and emergency response operations.
The students also visited the Provincial Emergency Response Center, where they learned about emergency coordination, response mechanisms and disaster preparedness.
The volunteers were introduced to rescue and emergency response machinery and equipment available with PDMA, giving them practical exposure to disaster response operations.
The educational visit provided students with an opportunity to better understand disaster risk management and the importance of preparedness and coordinated emergency response.
Such youth-focused learning activities can help build awareness and strengthen community preparedness for climate-related and other disasters.
