Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday extended his full support behind firebrand captain Babar Azam and urged the public to stand behind the team and avoid criticism for the next four weeks.
“Babar Azam is the greatest, it’s time to support the team,” Naqvi told the media in London, expressing unwavering faith in Babar’s leadership. He said this is an important time for the team and criticism will only hinder their progress.
Naqvi’s comments come as the team prepares for the World Cup, with many fans and pundits questioning the occasion. However, the PCB chief remains optimistic, saying, “If the nation supports it, this team will win the World Cup.”
Talking about the much-anticipated Pakistan-India World Cup match, Naqvi said the team’s plans for the India tour have not been finalised.
“Boys have been asked to play without fear because victory is in the hands of God,” Naqvi said in his address to the players. The statement speaks to the sentiments of many Pakistani fans who believe the fate of the team is in the hands of a higher power.
