Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohammad Naqvi, has decided to send opener Saim Ayub to London immediately for treatment.
According to Express News, the PCB Chairman contacted Saim Ayub to inquire about his well-being and assured full support for his treatment. Naqvi stated that sports orthopaedic specialists in London would examine Saim Ayub, and an appointment has already been scheduled for him. Dr. Memriz has sent all of Saim Ayub’s medical reports to London.
Naqvi emphasized that Saim Ayub is a stylish and exceptional batter, and a valuable asset to Pakistan cricket. He will be sent to London on the next available flight from Cape Town, accompanied by assistant coach Azhar Mahmood.
The PCB chairman expressed concern over Saim Ayub’s injury, stating that he will receive treatment at one of the best hospitals in the world. Naqvi hopes that Saim Ayub will make a full recovery before the Champions Trophy.
It is important to note that Saim Ayub, who was injured during the first day of the second Test match against South Africa ahead of the Champions Trophy, may take 4 to 6 weeks to recover. The injury occurred while chasing a ball near the short third man boundary, causing a sprained right ankle. Due to the injury, he was immediately ruled out of the match and taken to the hospital for scans.
Consultation with British specialists will be sought for further advice on his recovery, but the board has not yet issued a statement regarding the duration of his absence from cricket.
