Pakistan on Wednesday rejected India’s objection to India’s reference to Jammu and Kashmir in a joint Pakistan-China statement issued on June 8 and reiterated international recognition of Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that the Kashmir issue has been on the agenda of the UN Security Council for seventy years in response to media queries on the June 3 statement by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
“The relevant Security Council resolutions make it clear that the final settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir issue will be determined by the will of the people through a democratic and impartial plebiscite held under the auspices of the United Nations,” he said.
Looking at this fact, the spokesperson said India’s claim on Jammu and Kashmir is baseless and false.
“India should refrain from misleading the international community about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a major development project agreed upon by two sovereign countries. Instead of making baseless demands on CPEC, India should immediately implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
