Islamabad: Pakistan is facing double dilemma: lack of resources and ever exploding population. Current census accounts the overall population of Pakistan at 240+ million – 5th is the list of most population countries.
The booming population of Pakistan is straining the already strained socio-economic environment of the country, a seminar was held at a local hotel in Islamabad on the occasion of World Population Day, in which Additional Secretary Health Kamran Rahman and others attended, DG Population Shakeel Ahmed while addressing commended the efforts TCI has put towards reinvigorating the population component of health system and keeps on filling the gaps with Technical Assistance when required.
She instructed all the participants to keep on improving the service delivery and mobilization in similar accord. Additional Secretary ministery Health Kamran Rehman while addressing extended his gratitude towards the service providers in delivering quality services and applauded TCI for their continuous and targeted support in order to yield results even better.
Accordingly, the Chief Population, shakeel Ahmed opined that celebration of such days (e.g., Family Health Day, etc.) in providing platform for service delivery professionals to come aboard and sought solutions from each other for the similar issues they fave on daily basis during service delivery.
The Notables appreciated TCI’s effort in reinvigorating Population portfolio with new vigor and spirit in order to improve service delivery even further. Commending on the on-the-spot and planned Technical Assistance being delivered by TCI Islamabad’s team (Mr. Ubaid Azher, Ms. Aliya Fahad and Ali Raza) he applauded the assets Chief of Party, TCI (Mr. Ghazanfur Abbas) had picked for the task.
Further, it was decided that with the help of The Chellenge Initiative’s and other development partners the goal of 60% mCPR does not seem so far fetched now – hinting at Pakistan meeting the FP 2030 target.
