The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the details of the upcoming international season, which includes the One Day International (ODI) tri-nation series. The series, which marks his comeback after 21 years, will feature the national teams of South Africa and New Zealand along with hosts Pakistan.
The tri-nation ODI series will be held in February and all the matches will be played in Multan.
Apart from the tri-international series, Pakistan has had its international season filled with high-profile Test matches. The national team will play seven Test matches against Bangladesh, England and West Indies. Test matches will be held in different cities like Karachi, Rawalpindi and Multan, according to the PCB.
The return of such events is a significant development for Pakistan cricket and shows Pakistan’s readiness to host international cricket events after 21 years of being sidelined due to security concerns.
As for Test matches, Bangladesh will be the first to play two Test matches in August. The first test was held in Rawalpindi from August 21 to August 25 and the second in Karachi from August 30 to September 3.
England’s tour in October will include three Test matches. West Indies will finish the season with two Test matches.
The announcement is a major milestone for Pakistan cricket. The country has worked hard over the past decade to restore its reputation as a safe and welcoming place for international cricket.
Ever since the tragic terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in 2009, the international team in Pakistan has largely been spared. However, PCB’s consistent efforts, along with improved security measures, have slowly built trust among international cricket nations.
