Pakistan on Monday welcomed the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2728 demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza for the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement, a State Department spokesman said: “We also welcome the Security Council’s call to allow the free flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza, remove all obstacles to the delivery of humanitarian aid, and ensure the protection of civilians throughout the Gaza Strip. “
“Over the past six months, Pakistan has repeatedly expressed its strong and unequivocal condemnation of Israel’s indiscriminate use of force and called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, unimpeded humanitarian aid to the besieged people of Gaza and the return of displaced Palestinians. and ensuring accountability for crimes Israel has committed with impunity.
She said: “We call for the swift implementation of the Security Council resolution adopted today, in the hope that it will serve as the first step to end Israel’s brutal onslaught, secure a lasting ceasefire, and help address the overwhelming humanitarian situation in Gaza.
“Pakistan will continue to express its support for a just, comprehensive and lasting solution through the establishment of a secure, viable, contiguous and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-June 1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital,” the spokeswoman added.
