Pakistan and the UK are hosting the Pakistan-UK Regional Stability Conference at the National Defense University in Islamabad. The opening session was attended by military leaders from the two countries, including Army General Asim Munir and British General Sir Patrick Sanders.
General Sanders was accompanied by General Sir Roland Walker, Chief of the General Staff for Great Britain. A 30-member British delegation arrived in Pakistan on April 29 to attend the conference.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), defense officials from Pakistan and the UK will present their views on global and regional dynamics and their implications for peace and stability in the region.
According to ISPR, this year’s conference marked a wide range of discussions on regional issues.
Apart from the briefing, the British general held a separate meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir. Discussions focused on professional issues and the further development of bilateral defense relations. General Munir acknowledged General Sanders’ invaluable contribution in strengthening military ties between Pakistan and the UK.
The army chief also congratulated General Walker on his nomination as the next British chief of staff.
The conference served as a platform for strategic dialogue and exchange of views, reaffirming Pakistan’s and Britain’s commitment to developing regional stability and security cooperation. As negotiations continue, both countries are ready to explore ways to strengthen defense and security cooperation and develop a safer and more stable environment in the region.
